The ARTWORKS Gallery is at the heart of the Museums
educational philosophy. This 2,400 square foot space is divided into six
areas containing more than 30 stations for exploring art. The ARTWORKS Gallery
interprets the permanent collection of the Museum, but also includes original
art commissioned specifically for art education. The Gallery has four computers
with a variety of art-related software. For families and small groups, a
mezzanine features an assortment of art-related books, games and puzzles.
Large groups meet in the Orientation Glade where the basics of art are introduced
before students begin their explorations.
A related guide, See for Yourself, explores 20 concepts and themes
in art using color reproductions of works from the MMFAs permanent
collection. |
